Why You Should Take A Resort Day On Your Next Walt Disney World Vacation

I always recommend taking a day off from the parks and spending it at your Disney resort! Why?

Traveling can be exhausting, so it’s a good idea to arrive early, check out the resort, and enjoy all the amazing amenities. I just got back from Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort (which I loved)!

We arrived early on our first day and had Bell Services hold our bags until our room was ready. This allowed us to enjoy a delicious lunch without worrying about our luggage. Shortly after, I received an alert from the My Disney Experience app on my phone that our room was ready earlier than expected. Bell Services delivered our bags, and we headed straight to the pool!

Disney resort pools are incredible. They feature water slides, pool activities, pool bars, and are even heated. At the Polynesian, you can even grab a Dole Whip by the pool! My kids participated in the craft of the day and had a blast tie-dying Mickey shirts – so much fun!

Beyond the pools, Disney resorts offer a variety of activities for everyone. Each resort has a schedule of daily activities, which might include crafts, pool parties, trivia, game nights, movies under the stars, campfires, volleyball, cornhole, ping pong, and more.

Depending on where you stay, your resort may also offer spas, fitness centers, walking and running trails, and golf. Magic Kingdom-area resorts (like the Contemporary, Polynesian Village, Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness, and Wilderness Lodge) even offer nightly views of the Electrical Water Pageant and fireworks from Cinderella’s Castle. If you’re staying at the BoardWalk or Beach Club resorts, you’ll have some of the best views of Epcot’s fireworks.

Resort dining options are another highlight. Taking a day off from the parks is the perfect opportunity to explore these restaurants, which are often less crowded. And if you’re in the mood for something different, you can always head to Disney Springs for even more dining options.

Let’s be honest: walking around Disney World from park opening to park closing can be even more exhausting than travel days. Taking a day to relax and enjoy your resort’s amenities is a fantastic way to recharge.

With over 25 Disney resorts, I can help you pick the one that’s perfect for your family. That way, you can take full advantage of all the amenities and make the most of your vacation!
