How To Beat The Heat In Orlando

Let’s be honest: it’s hot at Walt Disney World in the summer! But summer can also be a great time to visit, with resort discounts and fewer crowds. Here are my top tips to beat the heat and still have an amazing vacation during the warmer months!

Plan Your Day Strategically

  • Start early- Take advantage of early park entry to enjoy outdoor attractions before the day heats up. You’ll beat both the crowds and the sun!
  • Take a midday break- Head back to your resort during the hottest part of the day. All Disney resorts have pools with complimentary towels and life vests, so you can swim, slide, and relax. Grab lunch, cool off, and even take a nap before returning to the parks in the evening.
  • Stay late- Guests staying at deluxe resorts can enjoy extended evening hours on select nights, giving you cooler temperatures and shorter lines.

Stay Cool in the Parks

  • Plan sit-down meals- If you’re staying in the parks all day, schedule a lunch at a table-service restaurant to relax and cool off in the air conditioning.
  • Seek shade and shows- Use the afternoon to enjoy indoor attractions and shows to escape the sun.

Stay Hydrated

  • Bring a refillable water bottle and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Disney offers free ice water at all quick-service restaurants, so take advantage of it!

Bring Cooling Essentials

  • Pack portable fans and cooling towels to help stay comfortable.

Dress Smart

  • Wear lightweight, breathable clothing to keep yourself cool and comfortable.

Capture Memories Early

  • Plan to take family photos in the morning when you’re feeling refreshed and the lighting is softer.

Fun Ways to Cool Off

  • Splash pads- Each park has a splash pad area, perfect for little ones to cool down.
  • Water parks- Disney has two fantastic water parks! Right now, Typhoon Lagoon is open. In 2025 Disney is including a complimentary water park day on the day you arrive! You can add a water park option on to your theme park tickets for more fun!

Try Nighttime Events

  • Consider attending an after-hours event. These separately ticketed events offer cooler temperatures, shorter lines, and lower crowds—a perfect way to experience the parks!

Don’t Forget Universal!

  • Universal Orlando resorts feature amazing pools, and Volcano Bay is one of my favorite water parks. With its lazy rivers, water coasters, and slides, it’s a fantastic way to cool off and have fun!

Visiting during the summer or hotter months is totally doable, and you can still have an incredible time. I’d love to help you plan an amazing vacation no matter the season!
